My journey thus far...

For most of my 26 years on this earth, my life has been filled with sicknesses of all sorts, hospital stays, and Dr. visit after Dr. visit. The reason for this is that I have 3 tick born diseases, Lyme Disease, and the co-infections, Bartonella, and Babesia. After years of no answers and ever Dr. telling me that there is nothing wrong with my despite symptoms such as chronic infections, Bell's Palsy, paralysis, inability to speak, not knowing my own name or who my husband was, chronic pain and fatigue, seizures, and other neurological and cognitive issues, I was finally properly diagnosed in the spring of 2008. Since then, I have been on years of IV antibiotics which have made me horribly sick, had PICC lines, chest ports, went into anaphylactic shock, as well as septic shock, but despite how sick my medicines make me feel, I am now on the path to recovery. Although this has been and is going to continue to be a long, hard journey; I will never stop fighting until I get my life back. I am so lucky because I have an amazing husband, Owen, who takes care of me and has been here for me ever step of the way, and parents who have helped and supported us as well. Even though Lyme Disease is the single most difficult thing I have ever dealt with in my life, it has taught me and changed me. Lyme Disease has truly made me a much more mature, less superficial, braver and better person!
